Sometimes the only way to get what you want is to take matters into your own hands. That's why about 70 percent or more of all adoptive placements are privately arranged, without the involvement of agencies.
Private adoption works because it meets the needs of adoptive parents and birth parents alike. Given a choice, most birth parents prefer to place their babies directly into loving families like yours rather than deal with agency processes.
Laws on private adoption vary from state to state. Individual cases often involve unusual legal and contractual questions. And any time people enter into agreements, problems can arise.
It takes private adoption experience to provide the guidance and advice that helps you achieve your goal with as few problems as possible.
We provide you with legal advice from start to finish, work along side you in your search for a birth mother, coordinate with her counsel to see that she receives all necessary care and allowable assistance, and guide you through to a finalized adoption.
Our Approach To Private Adoption
We recognize that these matters involve highly charged emotional issues, as well as legal issues. Our office is set up to provide intensive case management to follow every little development in your case. Our staff is higly trained and experienced. Our staff will work with you in the most effective, cost efficient way possible.
In private adoptions, we first provide our clients with advice on the law of adoption generally, and specifically with regard to a plan for their search for a child. We then provide ongoing advice to the client as they conduct their search for a child to adopt. Throughout the process, we assist the clients to maintain the confidentiality of their identities, if they choose to do so, and if the law allows. We do this by placing advertisements, engaging physicians, making arrangements with hospitals, etc., through our office so that the clients need not contact with such services providers directly.
During the period of time that our clients are waiting for the baby to be born, we may represent them in their relationship with the birth parents. Throughout the process, we prepare different legal documents as may be required and negotiate with attorneys for the birth parents, social workers or administrators in hospitals, and whoever else is involved in a particular case. When the adoption goes to court, we prepare the pleadings and represent the clients in court, or work in cooperation with other legal counsel toward the objective of adoption finalization. We also assist our clients in obtaining new birth certificates, hospital and medical records, etc. Essentially, we provide whatever legal advice and assistance our clients may need in their particular case to successfully accomplish the objective of adoption.
We have an extensive background and broad experience in dealing with private adoptions. We represent clients in the greater Maryland, D.C. and Virginia area, as well as across the United States. We work very hard to ensure that the adoption process is conducted in a manner that is dignified and comfortable for eveyone involved. We work on private adoptions throughout the year. We know this area and we recognize how difficult it can be sometimes. We have two objectives - first to help you adopt a child and second to help you to do so in the most-cost efficient manner possible.
